Horn lane, Acton Flood Alleviation Scheme


Clients: J Murphy & Sons and Thames Water 

Duration: 20 weeks 

Location: Horn Lane, Acton

                          

Description of works: 

At the time of writing, Dec 07, M&A Roarty Construction, working for J Murphy & Sons 
have completed the following scope items on the project: 

1 No 15m diameter underpinned precast concrete segmental shaft
3 No 6m diameter caisson precast concrete segmental shafts
2 No 4m diameter underpinned precast concrete segmental shafts
1 No 3m diameter underpinned precast concrete segmental shaft

184m of 1500 diameter pipejack carried out in a single drive with interjacks installed 
260m of 1800 diameter pipejack carried out in two drives

The remaining element of works is 134m of 1500 diameter segmental tunnel. 

The tunnel is currently under construction and is expected to be completed at the end 
of January 2008. Our own 1500 diameter tunnelling machine was used with an additional 
segment erection module fitted to avoid any unnecessary manual handling.

The 1800 and 1500 diameter tunnelling machines are owned by McMahon Plant Ltd, part of
